What can we recycle?

All recyclable material may be placed in the recycling dumpsters.  Collect mixed paper in (clear) bags and collect containers in separate (blue) bags. Please break down and place cardboard loose (not bagged) in the recycling dumpster.

Who do we call if our cardboard dumpster is full and we have additional recycling?  Please call Norris Barger or Lisa Kimzey at the Ed Center 884-6173.

Who do we call for class presentations, educational materials, or help getting the program going?

Please call Holly Bullman, Land-of-Sky Regional Council – 251-6822 ext. 135

Do you have to wash plastic bottles?

No, but it’s a good idea to empty the liquids before placing in the bag.

Are plastics other than bottles recyclable?

No, just plastic beverage bottles and large milk jugs. Yogurt containers, plastic clamshells, etc are not recyclable.

Can we paint the recyclable dumpster to emphasize it?

No, these are the property of GDS of Asheville, and may not be altered.

Can we lock the recyclable dumpster to keep other parties from contaminating the contents with their trash?

Please contact Norris if you’re having trouble and he can make arrangements.
